The Turkish Welfare Association was established in Marrickville in1969 under the name ‘Sydney Turkish Association’. As a result of changes, in 1974 it was renamed the Turkish Welfare Association. The Association is managed by a President along with its comity members selected by the community.
The objectives of the Turkish Welfare Association are:
- To provide assistance to the Turkish community.
- To provide information to those in the community who can speak little – no English.
The association is managed by a management committee selected by the community. Most funding is provided by the Department of Immigration and other grants and donations. We provide a community worker and an assistant welfare worker with the aim of providing services to the community.
